A Simple Game

Mike Pinder. This track was the B-side to Ride My See-Saw in 1968. It was more famously recorded as Simple Game by The Four Tops, who took it into the singles charts on both sides of the Atlantic in 1971. I believe that Pinder, Hayward and Lodge were in the stuido assisting with the recording.

I Really Haven't Got The Time

You want me to ride
In your car outside,
Spend some time with you,
Just an hour or two

But I really, I really haven't, I really haven't got the time.
I really, I really haven't, I really haven't got the time.
I really haven't got the time.

I'm a busy man
Working when I can.
I got no time to lend,
I got no time, time to spend,
Oh no I really, I really haven't, I really haven't got the time.
Oh no I really, I really haven't, I really haven't got the time.
I really haven't got the time.

Hey, hey, hey, hey!

I really, I really haven't, I really haven't got the time.
Oh no I really, I really haven't, I really haven't got the time.
I really haven't got the time.

Working nine 'til five,
Got to stay alive (I've got to stay alive)
Find somebody who (go find somebody who)
Got some time for you (who's got the time for you)
But I really (no, no, no, no), I really haven't, I really haven't got the time.

Oh no I really (no, no, no, no), I really haven't, I really haven't got the time.
I really haven't got the time.
I really haven't got the time.
Really haven't got time.

Leave This Man Alone

(Leave this man alone)
(Leave this man alone)

Young girls with their faces come to me at night
(To stay the night)
Why am I so lonely, tell me is it right?
(Is it right?)

Leave them, leave them, leave them, leave those things alone.
Leave them, leave them, leave them, leave those things alone.

Someone said I loved you but I can't think where
(I can't think where)
You know so much about me so don't stand and stare
(Stand and stare)

Leave me, leave me, leave me, leave my mind alone.
Leave me, leave me, leave me, leave this man alone.

(Leave this man alone)
(Leave him)

[Middle 8]

(Leave this man alone)
(Leave him)

Someone said I loved you but I can't think where
(I can't think where)
You know so much about me so don't stand and stare
(Stand and stare)

Leave me, leave me, leave me, leave my mind alone.
Leave me, leave me, leave me, leave this man alone.

(Leave this man alone)
(Leave this man alone)

[to fade]

Cities

Neon the city's sun,
Taxis like beetles run and I see
Pavements with yellow lines,
Grey walls and big bold signs with darkness
Up above, all around,
In the sky, on the ground.
This is what I have found.
Cities, cities

Here the flowers don't grow,
Here the river's just a sewer.
People who move below.
Buildings with smells and noise and darkness,
Up above, all around,
In the sky, on the ground.
This is what I have found.
Cities, cities

Not for me.
No, no I don't believe you;
It's not the place to be.
No, no I won't believe you.

Here the flowers don't grow,
Here the river's just a sewer.
People who move below.
Buildings with smells and noise and darkness,
Up above, all around,
In the sky, on the ground.
This is what I have found.
Cities, cities, cities.

A Simple Game

As time goes by
You will see
That we're going to be free.

You and me,
We'll touch the sky,
Can you see
In your mind's eye

That we are one,
We're all the same
And life is just
A simple game?

There by your side I will be
When this crazy world is free,
Free from doubt
When it finds out
Exactly what we're meant to be,

That we are one,
We're all the same
And life is just
A simple game.

Thoughts of another day
Flashing through my head.
Thinking how life could be,
All of the things that our great men have said.

Be what we want to be,
What we deserve to be,
What we are meant to be.

As time goes by
You will see
That we're going to be free.

You and me,
We'll touch the sky,
Can you see
In your mind's eye

That we are one,
We're all the same
And life is just
A simple game?

We're gonna be free
[repeat to fade]
